Hope everyone's enjoying the start of the fall season. Although I'm sad to say goodbye to summer, I do love Fall and all the fun themes that go along with it! 🍁🍂🐿️

This week, it's squirrels and acorns! I love starting my sessions with a story..moving into something a bit more structured like my CVC Acorns Smash Mat, then finishing off with a fun, motivating game.

I'm planning on doing "leaves" as my theme for next week, and "spiders" the week after...

Cooperative Games??

I love starting off the year by playing cooperative games with my students.

I have MANY students that are what some may call..sore losers (or winners) and tend to become angry or frustrated at even the thought of losing a competitive game.

So to avoid any potential meltdowns in the first few sessions, I like to play cooperative games to reinforce that working together can be just as much fun as "winning".

Race to the Treasure is a fun, cooperative game (got it at Savers for 1.99 woowoo!) that can be played while targeting any goals. We worked on sequencing and past tense verbs today.

Working on R⁉️⁉️⁉️😬

Before jumping in to attempting to produce the sound, make sure the child can correctly identify the sound.

I've created a workbook with auditory activities geared towards improving a child's ability to recognize and discriminate the "r".

Working on R can be really tricky, so make sure your child has a good foundational understanding of how the phoneme sounds.

This workbook contains listening tasks, minimal pair tasks, a loaded story and more.
